Sip & Swap: A Morning of Connection, Coffee and Greenery

Members of New Longsight Housing Coop gathered this past Saturday at Longsight Community Art Space for a warm and welcoming coffee morning, complete with a plant swap that brought people together over shared greenery and good conversation.
The plant swap allowed attendees to trade small houseplants that otherwise might have gone to waste. It was a perfect opportunity for green-thumbed members to share their gardening successes and learn from one another. The session was a hit with those eager to add something new to their indoor spaces, all while promoting sustainability and community ties.
Thriving spider plants, angel wing begonias, aloe veras, lemon scented geraniums, devil’s ivies, tradescencantias and succulents were amongst the plants people exchanged. Steve’s 3 large healthy spider plants showed proof of his skills for growing this variety, while the juicy octopus-like Aloe Vera brought in by Eloise showed it had been well-loved.
In addition to the plant exchange, attendees had the chance to catch up and discuss future events for the coop over hot drinks and biscuits.
As the event wrapped up, it was clear that New Longsight Housing Coop’s commitment to strengthening bonds amongst its members through shared experiences continues to grow—just like the plants that found new homes that day.
The Social Group hopes to make the coffee morning and plant swap a regular feature on the coop’s calendar. If you would like to attend our next coffee morning view the coop’s events calendar on our new website: www.newlongsighthousingcoop.org/event-calendar and if you have any ideas for future events, please get in touch at office@nlhcoop.org.
